Instant Error Feedback (reply)

Hello again,

While experimenting with the JSUDOKU app, I realized it would be helpful if the app provided immediate feedback whenever a user entered an incorrect input. More specifically, the feedback could involve highlighting the affected cell, or even the entire row, column, or square where the error occurs.

Do you think that this functionality would upgrade the application? It doesn’t need to be implemented right away but I think it would be a nice and interactive addition in the future.

Kind Regards,
Bill

Intoduction of a Toolbar could be beneficial for users (reply)

I'm the developer of the application - there is no team. However, I don't have the time to re-read my old code.

Differentiation Between Existing and User Filled numbers (reply)

Hello again,

During testing the app, I noticed that it is a little confusing the fact that the existing numbers look very similar to the ones entered by the user. I can see that the cells where the user needs to enter numbers have a subtle border, but it’s not very noticeable while playing the game. Also, according to Nielsen, it could be considered that this case violates heuristic #1: “Visibility of system status”, since the interface doesn’t clearly communicate the state of the cells (editable vs. non-editable). I have attached a picture to make my point clear.
As a simple solution I would suggest to just make the background of the existing cells gray. This way, users would easily tell which cells are editable and which are not.

Let me know what your thoughts are.

Kind regards,
Bill

Intoduction of a Toolbar could be beneficial for users (reply)

Hello,

Thanks for the immediate response! I never intended to offend you or anyone involved in the project. All I want is to share my thoughts with the community and make sure that they are heared. I will try to implement some of the functionalities at some point in the future but the exact time period is not defined yet.

I have one question. Is there any developer left in order to help me get familiarized with the code in case I need any help?

All yours,

Intoduction of a Toolbar could be beneficial for users (reply)

Hi Bill,

the JSUDOKU was developed more than 10 years ago and the last update was in 2011. It is not an up to date application. Thank you for all the suggestions that would improve the game - but I don't feel responsible for that. The source code is still available and you are free to implement all your features by yourself.

All the best
Micha
